| TEXTURED EFFECTS MADE EASY |
Don’t “Chicken out” when decorating your home. With Paint being one of the least expensive ways to change the look and feel of a room go wild with some of Bristol’s great textured finishes. Despite popular belief faux finishes are quite simple to use and anyone can create a wonderful textured effect on their walls.
Bristol has the ever-popular Bristol Suede finish that creates an elegant ambience in any room. The finish can be created quickly and easily in just two coats. After correctly preparing your walls, roller on the first coat of Suede. Once this is dry use a wide brush to criss cross on the topcoat in random patterns (ensuring it all joins together) and there you have it a room completed in a faux finish.
Another way Bristol helps you to create faux finishes is with Bristol Scumble. Scumble is what is known as an extender – this means it extends the drying time of the paint - allowing you time to create a wonderful new look. Generally Scumble is added to Bristol Easy Living in Low Sheen or Satin to create a sponged, rag rolled, colour washed or bagged finish. Generally one part Scumble is mixed with one part paint but for a more translucent effect all you need to do is use two or three parts Scumble to one part paint. It is that easy.
Bristol Pearl is another fantastic faux finish that is produced by Bristol. The product will shimmer on your walls, looking elegant and unique. It can be used in a number of ways to create a look that you like. You can roll it on a wall or you can bag, rag or sponge it on over Bristol Easy Living for a more subtle shimmer effect. You don’t have to paint your whole room with Pearl (or any other faux finish for that matter) all of them are ideal for creating a dramatic feature wall to add some interest to your home. The Pearl Finish is available in 6 colours.
To make life easy for you Bristol have created a pocket size booklet called “textured effects made easy”. This booklet provides a step by step guide to creating these effects so that it is even easier than it already is. If you would like one of these booklets you can pick one up from your local Bristol Decorator Centre.
